Late Goal by Munoz Lifts Simpson Past the Bucs

REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks have won back-to-back games as they took down Park-Gilbert University, 2-1 today. 

The Red Hawks came out of the gates firing as Clair Brown scored her first goal of the season as she put away a deflected ball from Rachel Squierra in the opening minutes. 

The Simpson defense played a flawless first half as they kept the Bucs off the board. 

SU had the edge in the first half as they outshot Park 5-3 with two shots on goal. 

Simpson looked for the shutout victory as they kept Park off the board until the 78th minute. 

A header off a corner kick put the Bucs on the board to tie the game late in the second half. 

With the game tied in the final minutes, the Red Hawks struck late on a Litsy Munoz goal on a pass by Chloe Tague to grab the late 2-1 lead. 

The Bucs had one last gasp on a corner kick in the 88th minute but were turned away from the Red Hawks defense. 

Kiah Gridley picked up the win as she moved to 2-1 on the year in the post. 

Litsy Munoz and Claire Brown picked up their first goals of the season while Rachel Sequierra and Chloe Tague each notched an assist. 

The Red Hawks look to be back in action tomorrow to conclude its two-game homestand as they take on Oregon Tech at noon.
