KLAMATH FALLS, Ore - The softball team traveled up north today to take on the #5 team in the nation Oregon Tech in a nonconference doubleheader.
Freshman
Lily Rojas got the nod in game one of the twin-bill.
The Owls drew first blood in the top of the first inning as they pushed across an unearned run on a Simpson error.
Rojas settled down and limited the damage as she stranded two runners to escape the jam.
A one-out double by Kayley Vailette in the third inning came as close as third base as the Owls ended the Simpson threat.
The Owls padded its lead in the third inning as they pushed across two more runs while chasing starter Rojas from the game in favor of
Jacquelyn Lujan.

Simpson could not slow down the Owl bats as they added two runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take the 7-0 game-one victory.
The Owls' pitching kept the Red Hawk bats at bay as they scattered two hits by
Ariel Schulzkump and
Kayley Vaillette.
Game 2:
Simpson handed the ball to senior
Kylee Potes in game two of the twin-bill.
The Owl's offense picked up where they left off as they scored in the first three innings to grab the 4-0 lead.
Potes went two innings and allowed three runs before
Jessica Ulshoeffer came in relief in the third inning.
A lead-off walk to
Elyse Benson in the bottom of the fifth inning put early traffic on the bases for Simpson.
But the OIT relief arm induced a twin killing and a strikeout to end the Simpson threat.
The Owls jumped on freshman
Katelyn Thomasson in the fifth inning as they plated four runs to walk it off via the mercy rule being in effect.
The Simpson bats mustered two hits by
Jessica Heck and
Kayley Vaillette.
Simpson looks to bounce back and resume conference play this weekend as they take on Westcliff on Friday in a doubleheader that is beginning at noon.
