RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The men's basketball team dropped the season series against La Sierra Thursday night 81-68 in Riverside, CA.
La Sierra jumped out to the early 5-1 lead after an
Osumanu Nuhu free throw put Simpson on the board.
The Red Hawks grabbed its first lead of the night shortly after
Drey Ubas scored his first points of the night on a three-pointer.
Simpson and La Sierra would exchange buckets for much of the first half.
However, the Golden Eagles went on a 17-9 run at the end of the first half to go up by as much as 16 points.
But a three-pointer by
Trey Conrad and back-to-back free throws by Ubas sent the Red Hawks into the half trailing 26-40.
Ubas was the leading scorer for Simpson with seven points in the first half.
Osumanu Nuhu put the first points on the board for Simpson in the second half off a layup in the paint.
A 22-11 run in favor of the Red Hawks helped Simpson cut the deficit to a three-point game halfway through the second half.

Sam Shields,
Drey Ubas, and
Parker Martens helped spark the Red Hawk's comeback.
Martens accounted for 13 of the team's 22 points during the Simpson run.
But the Golden Eagles never relinquished the lead and built its lead back up to as much as 13 points to close out the game 81-68.
Drey Ubas had a huge game as he scored a team and season-high 28 points to go along with four steals.
Parker Martens had quite the game as well by scoring 15 points to go along with eight rebounds.
With the Loss, Simpson is now 5.5 GB first place as they hold onto the sixth and final playoff spot at the moment.
Simpson will continue its road trip as they take on Embry-Riddle this Saturday.
