SALEM, Ore. - The women's basketball team defeated Northwest University 68-55 to wrap up play in the Corban Classic. 
The first points of the night came from 
Cerina Nguyen followed by a layup by 
Tessa Kinney to give Simpson the early lead. 
But the Eagles took the five-point 11-6 lead as Simpson chipped away. 
A three-pointer by 
Zara Dumatol gave Simpson the 18-17 lead late in the first quarter. 
Kinney converted on a layup to end the first quarter and give Simpson the 20-17 lead. 
Simpson never looked back as they never relinquished the lead. 
A Red Hawks exploded in the second quarter as they scored 14 unanswered points. 
Dumatol accounted for six points, Kinney notched four, and Nguyen and 
Anna Marshall each collected a bucket. 
Simpson went into the half with a commanding 38-25 lead.
Marshall opened the second half scoring with a jumper followed by a Kinney layup on Simpson's first two possessions. 
The Eagles pulled within ten after three-quarters of play. 
However, the Red Hawks prevailed as they outscored the Eagles 16-13 in the fourth quarter to take the 68-55 victory. 
Tessa Kinney had a huge game as she picked up a double-double with a team-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds. 
Anna Marshall had another big night as she picked up a double-double with a team-high 11 rebounds and 11 points. 
Zara Dumatol and Carina Nguyen rounded out Simpson's double-digit scorers as Dumatol posted 14 points and Nguyen picked up 12. 
Simpson continues play this week as they host the Simpson classic and take on Warner Pacific at 12:30 pm on Friday.
