REDDING, Calif. - The women's basketball squad held day one of its Simpson University Classic today as they took on Cascade Conference opponent, Warner Pacific University.

Tessa Kinney coming off a huge game against Corban, responded with a huge first quarter as she posted eight points while going a perfect 2-2 from the floor and 4-4 from the line.
A three-pointer by
Nikki Thompson to begin the second quarter extended Simpson's lead by four, 17-13.
Back-to-back jumpers by Nguyen gave Simpson the 27-24 lead with just over three minutes to play in the first half.
But the Knights took the 29-27 lead into the half.
Nguyen continued to stay hot as she opened the second half scoring to tie the game with a jump shot on Simpson's first possession.

A back-and-forth third quarter saw the Knights going into the fourth quarter with a one-point lead, 42-41.
Simpson scored five unanswered points to begin the fourth quarter on a layup by Nguyen and a jump shot from
Anna Marshall to put Simpson in front, 45-42.
The Red Hawks faced a one-point deficit midway through the fourth quarter as Simpson went on a 16-5 run to close out the game.
During the run,
Zara Dumatol notched seven points, Marshall posted five, and Nguyen picked up four more.
Simpson closed out the 64-57 victory to begin the Simpson classic.
Cerina Nguyen had a huge night in the paint as she posted a team-high 26 points to go along with nine rebounds.
Anna Marshall followed close behind with 12 points to go along with four steals.
Tessa Kinney had another solid game as she posted 11 points to go along with eight rebounds.
Simpson looks to stay hot as they take on California Tribal College tomorrow at 4 pm to close out the Simpson Classic.
