CALDWELL, Ida. - The women's team continued play today in Caldwell, ID as they took on Eastern Oregon University to round out the College of Idaho Classic.
Tessa Kinney coming off a double-double last night, stayed hot as she put the first points on the board for the Red Hawks followed by a three-pointer by
Katie Cushman to tie the game.Â
But the Mountaineers held onto the 21-15 lead to end the first quarter.Â
Cushman had a big first quarter as she notched a team-high nine points to go along with two three-pointers.Â
Simpson scraped and fought as they held within striking distance as buckets by
Anna Marshall and
Cerina Nguyen held Simpson within five points.Â
But the Mountaineers went into the half with a 36-25 lead and continued its momentum in the second half as they opened with a 15-3 run to extend its lead.Â
Simpson looked to chip away as
Cerina Nguyen scored the final three points of the third quarter to make it a 66-40 game.Â
However, Eastern Oregon outscored Simpson 24-4 in the fourth quarter to take the 89-45 victory.Â
Katie Cushman had a team-high 14 points to go along with four rebounds.Â
Cerina Nguyen posted a team-high 12 rebounds to go along with nine points as she just missed a double-double.Â
Simpson looks to be back in action on December 3rd against Pacific Union College in a nonconference match at 5 pm.Â
