REDDING, Calif. - The women's squad continued to keep its home record unblemished as they took down the Pacific Union College tonight 64-45 in a midweek nonconference matchup.
Nikki Thompson picked up the first four points of the game for Simpson as she converted on two free throws and a mid-range jumper.
Thompson played a key role in the first quarter as she owned a team-high seven points as Simpson led 13-12.

Cerina Nguyen had a big game in the middle as she picked up her second bucket of the night on a layup to help Simpson regain the 15-14 advantage to start the second quarter.
Simpson created some breathing room as they went into the half with a 32-24 lead as they closed the half on a 6-0 run to grow its largest lead of the game at the time to eight points.
Three straight buckets from Thompson, Nguyen, and
Katie Cushman rounded out the Red Hawks scoring in the first half.


Simpson continued to match the Pioneers as they grew its lead to 10 points twice in the third quarter on a bucket by Cushman and later on a bucket by
Tessa Kinney to close the 46-36 lead after three-quarters of play.
A three-pointer by Thompson to open the fourth quarter helped fuel a dominant fourth quarter by the Red Hawks as they doubled up the Pioneers, 18-9 to take the 64-45 victory.
Simpson got contributions from everyone as every single active player notched minutes and 9-11 players recorded points.
Nikki Thompson had a team-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and three assists.
Cerina Nguyen had another solid game as she posted a double-double with a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with 14 points.
With the win, Simpson moves to 5-3 on the young season and a perfect 4-0 at home. The Red Hawks do not return home until January 18th when they host California Maritime in a conference matchup.
In the meantime, Simpson looks to stay hot as they hit the road to take on DII opponent William Jessup University on Thursday at 5 pm in Rocklin, CA.
