REDDING, Calif. - The men's soccer squad kicked off its 2024 conference home opener today against La Sierra University.
The men's squad is looking to get in the win column as they return from its SoCal road trip going 0-1-1 as they tied with Providence Christian but lost to Westcliff.
Simpson and La Sierra held each other off the scoreboard until the 41st minute when the Golden Eagles found the back of the net to grab the late first-half lead.
The Red Hawks edged the Golden Eagles as they outshot them 5-4 but could not find the back of the net.
The Golden Eagles added an insurance goal in the 67th minute on a header off a corner kick to take the 2-0 lead.
But Simpson could not answer back as they could not find the back of the net as they fell to the Golden Eagles 2-0.
With the loss, Simpson is 2.5 games behind undefeated Westcliff University and UC Merced.
The boys have a bye this week but look to get back in the win column against Cal Maritime on October 18th at 5 pm.
