MERCED, Calif.- The Simpson University men's soccer squad looked to keep its playoff hopes alive as they took on #21 in the nation, UC Merced.
The Bobcats struck first in the sixth minute to grab the early 1-0 lead.
But the Bobcats added an insurance goal in the 27th minute off a header from a corner kick.
UC Merced padded its lead right before the half as the Bobcat attacker weaved through traffic for a pass that moments later found the top of the net in the 41st minute.

Eric Canela had his hands full as the Bobcat attackers reeled off 10 shots while he notched one save.
But the Bobcats showed why they are one of the hottest teams in the nation as they kept the attack going in the second half as they added goals in the 54th, 80th, and 86th minute to take the 6-0 lead.

Eric Canela notched two saves on the night but picked up the loss in the post.
Jesus Morales-Bonilla and
Jesus Rodriguez recorded Simpson's two shots of the night.
However, with the loss, Simpson looks forward to its senior celebrations this Sunday at 12:30 pm at Foothill High School.
