LANCASTER, Calif. - Simpson University men's soccer team kicked off its 2023 conference play with a big win over Cal Pac rival University of Antelope Valley.
The Red Hawks went on to dominate the Pioneers by the score of 4-0 to pick up its first of the road trip.
The Red Hawks drew first blood in the first half when junior Midfielder
Gio De La Torre found the back of the net.
Torre completed the brace late in the first half with the help of Jaime Velasco on the assist.
The second half combined for two more Red Hawk goals by
Michel Hampe in the 71st minute and Jaime Velasco in the 75th minute.
However, the Pioneers outshot the Red Hawks 15-6. But Goalkeeper
Daniel Morales had a strong game between the post as he prevailed against the Pioneer attackers. Morales earned his first conference win and clean sheet of the 2023 season.
The men will look to stay hot as they stay in SoCal to take on La Sierra University this Saturday at 8 PM.
