MESA, Ariz. - The women's volleyball team dropped the second match of its Arizona trip as they fell to Ben U in three sets. 

Simpson battled tough in set one as they held a two-point lead late. But a 5-1 Ben U advantage proved to be detrimental as Ben U took set one by the score of 26-24. 

Ben U continued its momentum into set two as Simpson played catch-up from the start.

Simpson battled throughout the set but ultimately fell short as they dropped set two by the score of 25-19. 

Set four followed an early back-and-forth battle as the Red Hawks exchanged blows. However, a couple of Ben U runs helped separate themselves from Simpson. 

Ben U would go on to take the set by the score of 25-16 to close out the game. 

Simpson got solid play from Mallory Swenson and Tiara Manns who accounted for 21 out of the team's 29 kills. 

Kayla Somontan recorded 24 assists to push her two-game total to 77 while Madison Kammuller registered a team-leading 18 digs. 

Simpson now holds a 1-1 record on its Arizona road trip thus far. They are in good shape as they hold the fifth spot in the Cal Pac standings. 

They are 3.5 GB from the undefeated Firebirds and 1 GB up from the Sea Beggars for the sixth and final playoff spot. 

Simpson will look to bounce back tomorrow when they take on Embry-Riddle at 4 PM.
