MESA, Ariz. - The men's soccer team avenged the women's team first conference loss this evening by shutting out Ben U 2-0 in the nightcap.
Simpson grabbed the early lead when Jaime Velasco found the back of the net in the 18th minute for his fifth goal of the season.
The Red Hawks struck again in the 67th minute as
Jesus Rodriguez added an insurance goal with the help of
Alvaro Zarpellon.
Both teams combined for a total of 24 shots on the night. But Simpson Goalie
Daniel Morales never broke as he walked away with the clean sheet on the night.
It was a key victory for the men's team as they kept pace with the front runners in the Cal Pac standings and now hold a tie for third with Embry-Riddle.
The Red Hawks are in good shape as they remain one game back from the Cal Pac leader, Westcliff University.
The Red Hawks will return home to take on Embry-Riddle this Saturday at 2:30 PM.
