REDDING, Calif. - The men's team fell Saturday afternoon against second-place Embry-Riddle by the score of 2-1.
A highly contested and physical match against the Red Hawks and Eagles ended in Embry Riddle edging Simpson with two second-half goals.
Simpson got on the board first in the 34th minute when Goalkeeper
Daniel Morales booted a long ball downfield to
Michel Hampe who broke through the Eagle defense for the game's first goal.
The Eagles answered back by scoring the equalizer in the 51st minute.
However, Embry-Riddle grabbed the lead in the 82nd minute when a key Simpson foul helped aid a free kick that resulted in an Eagle goal.
Simpson looked to make a late push but was denied by Mother Nature.
A lightning delay pushed the game back thirty minutes but it was ultimately called because of the unchanging circumstances.
The Red Hawks will hit the road to take on Pacific Union College this Thursday at 12:30 PM.
