Pioneer's Late Goal Dooms Red Hawks

ANGWIN, Calif. - The mens's soccer team fell to Pacific Union College this afternoon, 3-2.

A big conference matchup fell in favor of the Pioneers as they hopped Simpson in the Cal Pac standings to take sole possession of the 5th spot and drop Simpson to the 6th and final playoff spot.

The Pioneers came out firing as they drew first blood within the first minute of play.

However, Simpson answered back in the last seconds of the first half when Michel Hampe scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season.

The Red Hawks grabbed the 2-1 advantage in the 50th minute when Christian Meza scored his second goal of the season.

But, Pacific Union answered back in the 65th minute to score the equalizing goal to knot the game at two-a-piece.

The Pioneers scored the difference maker in the 84th minute to ice the game 3-2 in favor of PUC.

The Red Hawks will look to bounce back this weekend as they take on Providence Christian College at 7:30 PM at the California Soccer Park.

Simpson University's spirit club "The Red Sea" will be orchestrating a "Red Out" crowd for the men's and women's games.
