REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men's soccer team skunked PCC 5-0.
Simpson started quickly when
Michel Hampe scored in the 4th minute with the help of
Christian Meza.
The Red Hawks struck again less than two minutes later when
Gio De La Torre scored his 4th goal of the year with the help of
Alvaro Zarpellon's corner kick.
Hampe completed the brace in the 41st minute with his team-leading 10th goal of the year to close out the first half.
The Red Hawks had a strong half as they outshot the Sea Beggars 16-3 to hold a commanding 3-0 lead.
Simpson added more insurance in the 71st minute when
Jesus Morales-Bonilla scored his first goal of the year with the help of De La Torre.
Jesus Rodriguez joined in on the fun when he scored in the 73rd minute with the help of De La Torre's second assist on the night from a touch pass from
David Vasquez's corner kick.
With the win, Simpson is now in sole possession of the fifth spot in the Cal Pac standings with three conference games left.
The Red Hawks will hit the road to take on Soka University in the "Lion's Den" this Friday at 7:30 PM.
