REDDING, Calif. - The women's Soccer team punched its playoff ticket with a 1-1 tie with the University Saint Katherine.
The first half was a defense stalemate as both teams held each other off the scoreboard.
Simpson outshot the Firebirds 4-3 in the first half but no shots were able to find the back of the net.
The Red Hawks drew first blood and broke through in the 47th minute when junior
Yisel Ybarra scored her first goal of the year.
However, the Firebirds answered back in the 81st minute when a ball in the box trickled around and found the back of the net.
Simpson made a late push with a couple of corner kicks.
With the tie, Simpson clinched its third playoff birth in four years and now holds the fourth playoff spot.
Simpson will conclude its season next weekend for the senior festivities against UC Merced at 12 PM.
