REDDING, Calif. - The women's soccer team honored four seniors today on senior day before its match against UC Merced. The four seniors were
Taylor Barker,
Ashley Horan,
Sol Caceres, and
Hailey Tripp.
But the Bobcats played spoiler as they defeated the Red Hawks 4-0.
Simpson never really gained any momentum as they were out shot 14-3.
Kiah Gridley tried her best in the post to keep UC Merced attackers at bay by recording five saves.
However, Simpson has its tickets punched to the Cal Pac playoff tournament set for next weekend.
They are slated in as the sixth seed and will take on Benedictine next week Friday at 6:30 PM.
A look ahead
The Red Hawks will square off against Benedictine for the second time this season as Ben U took down Simpson 2-1 in its matchup in late September.
Ben U has gone 2-1-2 while Simpson has gone 2-2-2 since its meeting.
The first match was a physical battle between the two squads as seven cards were handed out along with two red cards.
The match was evenly contested as each team recorded 10 shots but unfortunately for Simpson two Ben U shots found the back of the net compared to Simpson's one.
