REDDING, Calif. - The women's volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker against Cal Pac rival Providence Christian. 

Simpson never quite found its footing as they dropped the match in straight sets. 

A rollercoaster first set between the Red Hawks and Sea Beggars included Simpson surging back late to push the set beyond the standard 25 points. 

But the Red Hawks found itself on the wrong side of a 27-25 first match.

Simpson battled Providence tough but an 8-2 PCC run helped create enough separation for the Sea Beggars to take the second set by the score of 25-23. 

The Red Hawks looked to bounce back in set three as they exchanged rallies with the Sea Beggars.

However, Providence held off Simpson's late 7-0 rally to secure the match 25-23. 

Madison Kammuller had a solid defensive performance as she registered a team-high 18 digs. 

Setter Kayla Somontan had another quality performance with 32 assists and 11 digs. 

Mallory Swenson and Tiana Nihipali led the team with 10 kills each. 

With the loss, Simpson falls behind Providence for the sixth and final Cal Pac playoff spot. 

Simpson will look to bounce back as they hit the road to Socal to take on La Sierra on October 19th at 7 PM.
