MESA, Ariz. - Simpson U women's basketball recorded its 11th conference win on Friday night, with a big road victory over Benedictine-Mesa. The Red Hawks have now won four of their last five games after the 73-66 win over BenU last night.
The fourth quarter proved again to be Simpson's best, outscoring Benedictine 27-17 en route to the seven-point win on the road.
Celina Tress had a great night shooting the basketball, tallying 27 points on 12-16 and adding eight rebounds to her stat sheet.
Livi Lindsey also had an impressive game finishing with 22 points alongside six rebounds for the Red Hawks.
Simpson's defense shined again holding BenU to 38 percent from the field and only allowing six free throws. On the other end, the Red Hawks got the line 18 times and shot at a 54 percent clip from the field.
The Red Hawks overcame their 18 turnovers and relied on defensive stops to propel themselves to the win. SU remains firmly in second place in the Cal Pac conference, just one game behind 1st place Antelope Valley.
The Red Hawks will have a day of rest before continuing the three-game Arizona road trip as they will take on Park-Gilbert University on Sunday at 5:30 PM.
