Women's Basketball Drops First Game of Arizona Trip to Embry-Riddle

Women's Basketball | 01/26/23

PRESCOTT, Ariz. - Simpson starts off their Arizona trip in the losing column against Embry-Riddle, 65-59.

The Red Hawks flew into the Arizona trip on a three-game hot streak nearly blowing out each of the three teams by 20 points or more. They started out the night scoring first and holding on to a small lead all the way to the third quarter where Embry-Riddle contested SU's lead.

One of Simpson's top scorers and sharpshooters, Sandra Berrocal, struggled shooting 3-for-10 from the field and 1-for-4 beyond the arc. Livi Lindsey continued her role from the last game with 18 points and came down with nine rebounds. Celina Tress shot 6-for-12 from the field and hit four of her five free throws.

In the last minutes of the game, the Red Hawk’s chances at flipping back the lead slipped away after multiple costly fouls lead to Embry-Riddle draining all six attempts in the last few seconds.

Simpson's next stop on the Arizona road trip is at Ben U tomorrow, Jan. 27, at 4:00 pm.
