REDDING, Calif. - With Competitive Cheer starting its first season this upcoming year, the first set of incoming freshmen have officially signed.
Baylie Petersen (pictured left) is from Dixon, CA and is graduating from Dixon High School. She has been an All-star and sideline cheerleader for the past eight years. Petersen says she chose Simpson because of her passion for cheer, the loving family team aspect and the academics.
Head Coach,
Erica Gismegian, is excited to have the talent that Petersen brings.
"Baylie is not only a remarkable athlete who excels in tumbling and stunting, she is a phenomenal human being. Her humility, kindness, enthusiasm and leadership are what every coach dreams of while assembling an award-winning united team. I am so honored to be her coach and I look forward to her leadership," says Gismegian.
Kaedyn Bunn (pictured right) is also from California. She currently attends Gridley High School in Gridley, CA. She has done sideline cheer all four years of high school and has been a dancer since she was three, competitive since age seven. Bunn was awarded "Flyest Flyer" three out of the four years of her high school career. She also earned the "Coach's Award" for her leadership skills. Bunn chose Simpson for the nursing program and the cheer team.
"Kaedyn is a dream come true. Her flying technique is extraordinary coupled with her competitive dance background which is destined to bring our team extraordinary success. She is brilliant, humble, caring and such a wonderful young lady. I am thankful she chose our team and I know she will take us to a whole new level," says Gismegian.
These two signees are the beginning of what is shaping up to be a talented Simpson Cheer Team in their first year of being a program.
