MERCED, Calif. - Simpson U women's basketball fell to the top team in the conference on Monday night, 71-52.

Merced entered the game 10-0 in the Cal Pac so far and the Red Hawks had the task of trying to eliminate their perfect conference record. The Bobcats pulled away early, but Simpson battled to cut the lead to six in the 3rd quarter. Merced's defense was suffocating and was able to runaway with the victory after going on a run to end the 3rd.

Kelsie Graf was the only Simpson player to score in the double digits, finishing with 10 points as the Red Hawks shot just 36.5 percent from the floor.

Mikayla Mabie led the game in the score column, tallying 19 points for the Bobcats.

Despite being the final game of the conference regular season, the Red Hawks season may not be finished. They currently have the 5th best record in the conference and the top six make the playoffs.

Simpson will see if they did make the conference tournament and where they will be seeded tomorrow at 12 PM as the conference selection committee will announce their decisions.
