REDDING, Calif. - Simpson U women's basketball notched another key victory at home against Benedictine-Mesa in a nail-biter, 61-59.
The Red Hawks for the second night in a row made halftime adjustments that proved vital to the victory outscoring BenU in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
SU ramped up the defense in the second half holding Benedictine to 33 percent shooting for the final two quarters while shooting above 40 percent on the other end.
Celina Tress led the Red Hawks in scoring with 18 points on 9-12 shooting and five rebounds.
Livi Lindsey despite having an off-shooting evening, provided a spark in other areas recording ten rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Sandra Berrocal was the other Simpson player in double figures finishing with 12 to go alongside five blocks.
With the win, the Red Hawks improve to 3-0 in conference play and are in sole possession of first place in the Cal Pac. Simpson will have a day off on Saturday before completing the Arizona trio against Embry-Riddle on Sunday in the Grant Center.
