REDDING, Calif. - Simpson U men's basketball fell at home to Park University Gilbert, 79-69.
Despite the loss, the Red Hawks remain 1-1 in conference play so far with two more key matchups this week.
The Red Hawks slow start against Park made it an uphill battle for the rest of the game. Park came out of the gate shooting lights out at 58 percent from the field to Simpson's 36 percent.
"Tonight we struggled catastrophically in almost every area of the game," Head Coach
Todd Franklin said, "One of the greatest things sports teaches us is if you fail to do the small things consistently, then you can't accomplish the big things."
Gary Mims led the Red Hawks offensively with 19 points and four rebounds while
Aaron Burt chipped in 14, Drew Ubas added 12, and
Daylon Potts dropped in 13 points.
The Red Hawks have little time to regroup after the loss as they will face Benedictine on Friday night at 7:30 PM.
"I'm extremely grateful that we have the opportunity to bounce back tonight and get back to being us," Coach Franklin said.
Simpson will look to improve to 2-1 tonight at home in the Grant Center with tip-off set for 7:30 PM.
