REDDING, Calif. - Former Simpson University forward,
JT Branch has signed a professional contract overseas in Argentina.
JT Branch played basketball for the Red Hawks from the 2018-19 season to the 2021-22 season and helped Simpson qualify for the conference tournament every season.
Branch inked a pro contract with Pico Futbol Club in General Pico, Argentina, and will represent Simpson and the Redding area in South America.
"This without a doubt is a dream come true, Branch said, "The percentage of those continuing to play basketball after finishing school is very small. And to be able to continue is nothing but God blessing me in ways I couldn't even imagine."
Coach Franklin was ecstatic about Branch's opportunity, "I am absolutely thrilled for JT to sign this pro contract,"
Todd Franklin says, "So many players out there talking about playing overseas and JT was quietly in the gym working on improving his craft."
In his time at Simpson, Branch averaged 12 points per game alongside six rebounds. He was selected to the Cal Pac All-Conference First Team once, and the All-Defensive team once both in the 2021-22 season.
"Simpson gave me the opportunity to use their facilities and equipment for any available time, Branch says, "While playing there I learned how to maximize my strengths and weaknesses while also being able to help my teammates as much as possible while playing with them."
