REDDING, Calif. - The Men's Basketball Team had their first game of the season on New Year's Day, falling to #8 ranked William Jessup, 96-66.

The Red Hawks started out strong, gaining the lead and holding it for the first four minutes of the game. 

For the following five minutes, Jessup and Simpson battled back and forth, each team gaining the lead a few times until the Warriors started to pull away. 

At the half, Simpson trailed, 40-22.

In the second 20 minutes, SU improved their field goal percentage by nearly 29% and their three-point percentage by about 26%.

However, the improvement wasn't enough to top Jessup, Simpson ultimately falling, 96-66.

Drey Ubas led the Red Hawks in scoring with 11 points. He also had a steal and two rebounds. JT Branch tallied 10 points, one block and one steal. 

The Red Hawks will start conference play on January 8th at home against Cal Maritime at 7:30 PM.
