Men's Soccer Falls to OIT

GRANTS PASS, Ore. - Simpson University men's soccer fell on the road on Thursday afternoon to OIT, 6-0.

The Hustlin' Owls attack was on full display keeping the Red Hawks defense on their toes for a majority of the match. Joel Sterling and Joao Almeida each were able to get a shot on goal against OIT, but both were saved.

"This one is on me," Head Coach Cornejo said, "I didn't do a good enough job preparing the guys to come in and play well. We now know what to focus on in training to correct some of our mistakes."

Heriberto Cuevas recorded eight saves for the Red Hawks between the sticks.

Following the loss, Cornejo remains positive about the long season ahead, "I am optimistic about where we can go from here because the guys have the right attitudes," Cornejo said.

The Red Hawks remain on the road to face Bushnell University in Eugene, OR for a 12 pm kickoff on Saturday, September 11th. SU has three more non-conference matches left this season including an early postponement with Jessup before Cal Pac Conference play commences.
