EUGENE, Ore. - Simpson University men's soccer recorded its first win of the season on Saturday shutting out Bushnell University, 3-0.
The win was the first clean sheet of the season for the Red Hawks, in fact, Simpson didn't allow one shot on goal.
SU didn't break the tie until the second half and in the 58th minute,
Joseph Bell scored off of an assist from
Jesus Rodriguez. Only minutes later, Rodriguez scored after a shot deflected off the crossbar, Jesus was there to find the net.
Ruben Barajas scored the third goal of the match after a corner kick wasn't cleared, Barajas controlled the ball and made the goal-scoring strike.
The Red Hawks dominated for most of the match, outshooting Bushnell 24-9. Simpson's shots on goal were the same number as Bushnell's total shots at nine.
Daniel Morales is tabbed with the clean sheet despite having to make any saves as the SU defense was suffocating in the final match of the three-game road trip.
The Red Hawks are now 1-2 on the season and will look to continue the positive momentum on Sept. 17th when they take on Humboldt State.
