ASHLAND, Ore. - Simpson University women's volleyball opened its season on Thursday with three sets to none loss to 25th ranked Southern Oregon University.
Despite falling in straight sets, the Red Hawks have many positives to build on after facing one of the top teams in the country in the NAIA.
Kendal Welpott led the Red Hawk attack finishing with 13 kills and
Kayla Somontan tallied a team-high 13 assists.
"It was to great to get our season started against a nationally ranked team," Head Coach
Mike Haworth says. "
Kendall Welpott and
Maddie Adams played as well as anyone on either team. We will take the good things and work on the bad ones and compete again tomorrow."
Simpson will continue its road trip and face Oregon Tech on Friday, August 20th with a 6 PM first serve.
