REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's soccer records its second straight shutout and third straight win with a 2-0 victory of Providence Christian.
The Red Hawks improve to 7-3 on the season and 5-1 in conference play which is one of the best starts for the program in the last 15 years.
Joel Sterling led the Red Hawk attack with four shots, all on goal, and scored the only two goals of the game in the 9th minute and the 47th minute.
Liam Bates recorded the clean sheet following Cuevas' clean sheet earlier in the week.
It has been a special season for Simpson in 2021 and currently sits in first place of the North division, but UC Merced has yet to lose a conference match and is the 21st ranked team in the country.
This makes for an important match this Wednesday as the Red Hawks host UC Merced with with first place on the line.
