REDDING, Calif. - Simpson U men's soccer has been on a tear all season long recording an 8-3 record overall and after winning its fourth straight match, 6-1 in conference.
The Red Hawks defeated La Sierra on Sunday afternoon 3-2 after a hard fought 90 minute battle against the Golden Eagles.
Mohammad Salaymeh kicked off the scoring for the Red Hawks finding the net in 15th minute.
Last week's Cal Pac player of the Week,
Joel Sterling quickly followed with a goal in the 21st minute.
La Sierra then scored two goals to even the score at 2-2 heading into the final quadrant of the match.
David Vasquez was the hero with perfectly timed finish in the 82nd minute off of a
Christian Guevara assist that ended up being the deciding goal.
SU sits in first place atop the North Division of the Cal Pac with UC Merced a half game behind, but with three games in hand.
The Red Hawks will complete their regular season as they will face Pacific Union College this Thursday, April 1st in Angwin, Calif.
