Men's Basketball Cold Shooting Keeps Them From National Tournament Bid

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball couldn't get into a rhythm offensively this week in the NAIA Qualifying Tournament falling to Benedictine and University of Saint Katherine.

The Red Hawks fell to BU 83-69 in game one as Benedictine moved onto the NAIA National Tournament. Dylan Banks starred for the Red Hawks scoring 27 points, four assists, and three rebounds in the loss.

In game two, Simpson remained ice cold from the field, 17-71 from the floor and 2-38 from beyond the arc. Despite SU's inability to knock down shots, the Red Hawks kept it close with good defense only allowing 69 points.

The shooting performance was an anomaly for the Red Hawks, who have typically been a solid shooting team throughout the season.

Simpson men's basketball played one of the toughest schedules on the West Coast facing many of the top-ranked opponents across various leagues and conferences
