REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball fell to NCAA DII opponent Humboldt State, 104-70.
The Red Hawks finished the first half down by just three points after a hot start from the field, trailing 45-42 at the break.
"I was really proud of our guys and their energy in the first half," Head Coach
Todd Franklin said, "I thought we played smart, controlled basketball."
Humboldt State picked up the scoring pace in the second half scoring 59 points, lighting it up from the field as the Jacks ended up shooting 55% for the game.
"Obviously, the second half didn't go as planned, but even with that we have some great things to work on moving forward," Franklin said.
Three Simpson players ended up in double figures for the game led by
Dylan Banks who scored 17 points on 7-9 from the floor.
Adam Gotelli and
Christian Alvis-Labadie combined for 26 points and six three-pointers in the loss.
The second of the two-game series with Humboldt State is on Wednesday at 5 PM in the Grant Center.
