REDDING, Calif. - Simpson women's volleyball hit the court today for the first time in over a year as the Red Hawks fell to William Jessup, 25-16, 25-18, 25-13.
After having the fall season postponed due to the coronavirus, the Red Hawks finally began their season Saturday in a three-set loss to former conference rivals, William Jessup.
Kendall Welpott led Simpson in the attack with a game-high 12 kills and an attack percentage of .333.
Lily Johnson added six kills and
Rebecca Drinkwater finished with four.
"I really liked how we competed since we haven't played in over a year," Head Coach
Mike Haworth says, "I'm excited to see how this team grows this season."
William Jessup looked to be in mid-season form in the sweep over the Red Hawks as nine different Warriors tallied kills and no attacker finished with more than Mary Padilla, who finished with eight.
The Red Hawks will host Oregon Tech next Friday at 6 pm and again on Sunday at 3 pm as the season is now in full swing.
