REDDING, Calif. – The Red Hawks defeated Benedictine Saturday night in the James M. Grant Center. Freshman Forward
Nathan Presnell helped elevate SU to victory with 32 points and eight rebounds. The Red Hawks advance to 6-4 in conference and string together back to back wins with the Cal Pac Conference Tournament right around the corner.
Nathan Presnell got off to a hot start for SU. The Freshman was impacting the game from the paint and from the outside, scoring 15 points in the first 10 minutes of play and drilling three triples in the process. Saturday was Pernell's highest scoring night since the Red Hawks defeated Multnomah back in November and the Freshman dropped 39.
Senior
Dylan Banks also had himself a night, posting 15 points and 4 assists to back up Presnell.
The 7-foot-tall
Harvey Barr played one of his best games of the season against Benedictine adding 6 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. Barr had multiple timely plays on both the defensive and offensive end to put a stop to any Benedictine attempt at a comeback.
Christian Alvis-Labadie was the most impactful player off the SU bench, scoring nine points in his 20-minutes of playing time.
The Red Hawks will travel to Merced to face the Bobcats for their next action. Simpson will be looking to avenge another close loss on Thursday as the Red Hawks found themselves short two points at the final buzzer against UC Merced earlier in conference play. The Red Hawks have just one game remaining at home and will celebrate Senior Night when the Pioneers come to town on Saturday in the James M. Grant Center.
