MERCED, Calif. – In the midst of a heated battle for playoff seeding at the top half of the Cal Pac Conference standings, the Red Hawks traveled to Merced to take on the Bobcats. Both teams had six wins and five losses in conference play before the Thursday night matchup. Simpson was looking to avenge a two-point loss, but the Bobcats took an early lead in this one and never looked back.
The backcourt duo of
Dylan Banks and
Christian Alvis-Labadie led the way for SU. The Guards scored 13 points apiece while combining for five rebounds.
Brycen Wight added some effort off the Simpson bench, going for 12 points and three rebounds.
Nathan Presnell scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds in his 21 minutes of playing time.
The Red Hawks look to secure their seventh conference win at home on Saturday against PUC. Simpson narrowly beat the Pioneers in the Covered Wagon back in January. SU will send off their seniors and continue their fight for a favorable seed in the conference tournament at 8:30 PM on Saturday.
