REDDING, Calif. – The Red Hawks were in need of a win Saturday night and a win is exactly what they got, defeating the La Sierra Golden Eagles by six points at home.
The first half was tightly contested with four lead changes and six ties. The Red Hawks took the largest lead of the half (7) but the two teams would head to the locker room with the score tied at 33.
Simpson put their foot on the gas in the second half, taking the lead and never giving it up. Nathan Presell put up 11 of his 21 point in the second half to go alongside his seven rebounds for the game.
Dylan Banks was all over the court as his team went on to earn their fourth conference victory. Banks added 11 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals on 5-9 shooting from the field.
Two other Red Hawks also scored double digits in the victory Saturday night.
Christian Alvis-Labadie added 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
Brycen Wight added 13 points and eight rebounds, leading SU on the boards.
Simpson advances to 4-3, good for second place tied with Cal Maritime and UC Merced in the tightly contested Cal Pac Conference standings.
The Red Hawks will travel to Cal Maritime to begin the second round of conference play on February 1
st.
