ROCKLIN, Calif. - After jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, the Simpson Red Hawks fell to William Jessup University, 4-3.

Daniel Rodriguez notched his second goal of the season off of an excellent cross from Joel Sterling to give SU a 1-0 lead. Sterling then scored an unassisted goal in the 29th minute, but Jessup rallied back scoring twice to even the score going into the half.

The Warriors kept their momentum rolling breaking the tie with a goal in the 71st minute. SU defender Omar Leal then found the back of the net for the equalizer in the 80th minute. Just 30 seconds later, Jessup marched down the field and Karam Idris scored his second goal to give WJU the victory.


Simpson outshot Jessup for the match 16-12 and had more corner kicks on the match, but the Red Hawks were unable to pull off the non-conference win.

SU will compete in its final non-conference game of the season as the Red Hawks will host Humboldt State on Sunday, Sept. 22nd for a 12 pm kickoff.
