REDDING, Calif. - For the first time since 2011, Simpson women's soccer has knocked off a Cascade Conference school in a 5-0 shutout, Friday afternoon.
The Red Hawks shutout on the first game of the season marks the first in program history since 2009.Â
Simpson began the game with a pair of goals from
Sandy Lule, both unassisted as the Red Hawks took a 2-0 lead into the intermission. The Red Hawks continued their offensive dominance in the second half as Paulina Diaz,
Caroline Forseth, and
Haley Moebes recorded their first career goals to give SU the 5-0 win.
Alison Harvey records the clean sheet for Simpson in goal tallying three saves in the match.
Simpson starts the season 1-0 and will look to make it 2-0 as the Red Hawks face Mills College, Sunday morning at 10 am at the Simpson Soccer Field.
