Red Hawks Complete Sweep of Providence

PASADENA, Calif. - After defeating the Sea Beggars yesterday in game one of the three-game series, the Red Hawks were hungry for more. They had the bats swinging, racking up a total of 30 runs between the two wins, sweeping Providence Christian College.

In game two of the weekend, Providence Christian jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning. However, at the top of the second, Simpson took control of the game, scoring five runs. SU did it again in the third, scoring five more, thus going up 10-1. The Sea Beggars got one back in the bottom of the third, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Red Hawks scored six more in the top of the sixth, which would result in the game being called after the seventh inning, 16-5. Andrew Cisneros picked up the win in the complete game victory striking out two Sea Beggars batters.

Game three was much of the same for Simpson, as the continuous hits would prove to be too much for Providence Christian. SU quickly took the lead in the top of the first off of a two-run homer by Derick Kuhn. In the second inning, the Red Hawks added five to the already 2-0 lead. Between innings four, five, and seven, Simpson was able to add seven more runs, which would, again, result in the game ending after the seventh inning. The defense was strong again in the series finale, only allowing PCC to get two runs in the seven innings.

Several players got in on the action today with outstanding performances, including Derick Kuhn and Nathan Minami each recording four RBIs in game three, while Gil Loza had four between both games.

The Red Hawks are now 3-3 in conference play and currently sit in 4th place in the Cal Pac, but have played two less games than all but two teams.

Simpson will play at home against Benedictine Mesa on March 16th and 17th, with both games scheduled for 12PM.
