REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University women's basketball fell at home against UC Merced in overtime 75-70.

After a back and forth second half, 40 minutes of basketball wasn't enough to decide a winner. Merced went on a 12-7 run in overtime to pull of the nail-biting thriller and even the season series between the two teams.

Four Red Hawks were in double figures against Merced, led by Estela Gutierrez who finished with a game-high 22 points. Whitney Armstrong, Madison Cox, and Shayla Smothers combined for 36 points shooting well above 50 percent for the game.

The Red Hawks slide into the 4th spot in the Cal Pac standings with two games to play, a game back of UC Merced. If Simpson wins both remaining games and Merced loses one, SU will be the 3rd seed because of the head to head point differential favoring the Red Hawks.

SU will play host to the final two Cal Pac games Thursday and Saturday against La Sierra University and University of Antelope Valley. Both games set for a 5:30 pm tipoff.
