Redding, Calif - Simpson got off to a strong start on their home floor Saturday night as the Owls of Oregon Tech came to town. The Red Hawks netted the first seven points of the game on their way to a 17-10 lead at the quarter break. Senior
Alli Ramelli knocked down a three and was rewarded for some team defensive hustle with a fast break layup for the first five points of the game. Freshman PG
Brianna Clark scored a bucket in the lane and OIT was forced to call a timeout down 7-0. After the timeout the Owl's were able to put some points on the board but the Red Hawks maintained their multiple possession lead throughout the first.
Simpson was unable to outscore their opponent in the second but still headed into the locker room with a five point lead. Ramelli contributed 7 of the Red Hawks 28 first half points along with her three first half assists, and
Alex Cooper led Simpson on the glass with 4 rebounds after 20 minutes of gametime.
The Owls marched back in the second half to cut the deficit and eventually take the lead. The Red Hawks trailed by four points at the end of the third and would go on to end the game trailing by eight.
Alli Ramelli was Simpson's leading scorer with 11 points while adding four assists and four steals. Blanca Cassamort added nine points and three rebounds in her 21 minutes off the Red Hawk bench.
Alex Cooper got the starting nod from Head Coach Derrick Pringle Jr. and was once again SU's top rebounder with five on the night.
SU will play one more game on the road before enjoying a break for the Holidays as they take on the William Jessup Warriors in Rocklin, Calif. on Dec. 17th at 5:30 PM.
