Rocklin, Calif. - The Red Hawks traveled down to the Sacramento area Tuesday night for a game against the William Jessup Warriors. Three Red Hawks registered double digit scoring efforts on the night, but the Red Hawks were unable to slow down the Warriors offense, falling 76-62.
The Red Hawks fell behind early, trailing by eight at the half. Simpson also trailed heading into the fourth, but the Red Hawks made a comeback attempt in final quarter with Senior
Alli Ramelli at the helm. Ramelli continued her strong play for SU, scoring half of Simpson's 24 points in the final quarter. Outscoring the Warriors in the fourth was not enough however, despite the impressive quarter from the Simpson guard. Ramelli finished the game with 17 points, six rebounds, a steal, and a block while connecting on three of four attempts from downtown.
Two other Red Hawks scored double digits against the now 8-4 Warriors. Senior
Precious Jackson got the start and recorded 11 points, six rebounds, a steal, and a block. This was the seventh time the Senior has been a top three scorer for Simpson this season.
Lexi Thompson went 6-11 from the field and added 13 points in her 27 minutes off the bench for the Red Hawks.
Alex Cooper had another near double-double off the bench with nine rebounds and seven points.Â
Simpson was outscored by 15 at the free throw line and three Warriors players scored 15 or more points on their way to victory.Â
The Red Hawks have one more non-conference matchup against Northwest Christian in Eugene, Ore. before Cal Pac conference play begins at Cal Maritime in early January.Â
