Men's Basketball Sets School Record For Points Scored in Blowout Win

REDDING, Calif. - Win number 14 on the season for the Simpson Red Hawks came via a blowout victory over Northwest Indian College 127-80. Simpson U set a school record for points scored in a game with 127 and has now won the most games in a season since 2014-15, with still seven guaranteed games remaining.

The record-breaking performance did not stop there, Simpson recorded the most three pointers by a team in a the school's history at 20 and had the most players in double figures in scoring with seven. The Red Hawks also set a school record for assists with 31 team dimes another proponent to Simpson's offensive dominance.

It was a night to remember on offense for the Red Hawks, with numerous incredible dunks and flashy plays that led to the Simpson momentous victory.

Blake Trent led Simpson in the scoring with 31 points in 15 minutes, hitting 11 shots in 13 attempts. Aaron Berry, Justin Nieto, Brandon Moss, Kenneth Modica Jr., Gabe Coleman, and Alex Ondrus were the other six players with double digits in the scoring column.

After the win, Simpson is now on a three game winning streak and has won eight of its last nine contests heading into the second half of conference play on Saturday.

SU (6-1) will take on Cal Pac rival Cal Maritime, who is just a game back in the conference standings, in what is the biggest game of the year thus far. The Red Hawks will face the Keelhaulers in a rowdy Grant Center on Saturday night at 7:30 pm.
