REDDING, Calif. - Four days after notching votes in the NAIA National Poll for the first time in program history, Simpson men's basketball dominates at home against Pacific Union College in a 96-72 win.

The Red Hawks already have double digits in the win column in January and Todd Franklin in just his second season has his team playing the best basketball that the program has ever seen. Not only that SU is in first place in the Cal Pac Conference at 4-0 so far, after the home win tonight.

Simpson began the night on a 16-0 run, 12 of which came from the right hand of Blake Trent from beyond the arc. The Red Hawks did not let off the gas, continued to build their lead and eventually led by 38 points at 73-35.

On what was one of the sharpest shooting night of the season, as SU recorded a 70 percent shooting clip in the first half only missing just eight shots in the first 20 minutes. Simpson had four players in double figures led by Blake Trent, reigning Cal Pac Player of the Week, with 24 points, drilling six 3-pointers. Aaron Berry followed closely behind with 17 points and seven rebounds. The SU starting frontcourt played a huge factor in the blowout win as JT Branch and Jon Manjon with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

For just the second time in men's basketball history, the Red Hawks have won 10 or more games in back to back seasons. Simpson improves to 10-5 and have now won four consecutive contests alongside sitting solely atop the conference standings.

SU will look to keep their Cal Pac record perfect as they head to Merced, Calif. to battle with the Bobcats at UC Merced, Saturday night at 7:30 pm.
