SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - After a shutout in the season opener, a week ago, the Red Hawks defense had another outstanding performance in the 1-0 loss to Northwest Christian University.
23 seconds into the contest, Northwest Christian broke through an broke the tie. That was the lone blemish on the Red Hawks record. Simpson had numerous opportunities to score the equalizer, but Beacon goalkeeper, Julian Hernandez, prevented the Red Hawks from tying the game.
Simpson keeper,
Nyjel Buchanan, also had a nice game in the net for Simpson, stopping eight NWC shots from crossing the goal line.
The Red Hawks got off eight total shots, however only three were on goal, including a pair of strikes from
Solomon Dutton that were fingertipped away by the goalkeeper.
SU falls to 1-1 on the young season and will look to get back above .500 Friday, August 31st against Menlo College at 1 pm on the Simpson Soccer Field.
