REDDING, Calif. -- The Red Hawks battled with the Owls from Oregon Tech in another double header Sunday afternoon losing the first and winning the second 5-3 and 6-4 respectively.
After struggling the previous day, the Red Hawk pitching settled down and went to work in Games 3 and 4 of the series.
Reynaldo Gomez took the mound in Game 1 on Sunday allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits.
James Humphrey and
Alfred Souza IV and allowed just 2 runs in 4 innings of work and the Red Hawks put together three runs on 10 hits but couldn't overcome the 5 errors in the field falling 5-3.
Simpson took and early lead in Game 2 with a big three run inning in the second off the bat of
Nathan Minami. Minami took a first pitch fastball deep to left scoring Moseley and Jones. The Owls would add two in the 3rd but the Red Hawks came back with another three run inning in the fourth and wouldn't give up the lead again.
Dylan Lum started for Simpson in Game 2 and allowed just 4 runs on 6 hits, striking out two in five and two thirds innings pitched. Souza came in again in relief clinching the game and getting the save.
