Volleyball Drops a Pair on Opening Day

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Red Hawks began their 2017 campaign with a road trip to William Jessup for a three day round robin tournament in Rocklin.

Simpson began its year by falling to Saint Katherine College, 25-20, 25-14, 25-16.

Junior, Ashley Job, led the Red Hawks with 5 kills in the match on 23 total attacks with just one error. Marianne Soria tallied a team-high 13 digs while Madison Stouder and Sara Salmon split the setting duties, combining for 11 assists against the Firebirds.

In match two, Simpson fell in straight sets to  Bethel College out of Indiana, 25-19, 25-17, 25-12.

Despite the loss, the Red Hawks decreased their service errors by five with just six.

Multiple Red Hawks were strong defensively as four different Simpson players recorded 5 or more digs. Cameron Wallace, Nicole Morse, and Ashley Job combined for 13 kills for Simpson in the losing effort.

Simpson will face rival and host, William Jessup tomorrow, August 17th at 3 pm in the Warrior Arena.
