Simpson handed Benedictine-Mesa their first series loss in conference play after winning 4-1 Monday afternoon. With that loss Benedictine also falls to second in the conference a full game behind University of Antelope Valley. Jarret Kirby earned the win for Simpson, pitching 7.2 innings and allowing just one run on six hits. Alfred Souza would get his first save of the season after getting the last two outs in the ninth. Derrick Kuhn's move to the the two-spot in the order didn't slow down his offensive production as he went 3-4 with a solo shot in the third, his second home run of the year.
Latrell Harris also added a run and an RBI for the Red Hawks, and Rath Mosely added a solo shot of his own in the bottom of the fourth.
