PRESCOTT, Ariz. - Simpson University men's basketball takes down Embry-Riddle, 61-58.
The Eagles have been Simpson's achilles heal, beating the Red Hawks in three straight contests.
The Red Hawks half court defense continues to be the main strenght, holding Embry-Riddle to just 58 points. The slow-paced game ramped up as both defenses locked down the opposing team in the second half. Â On the Eagles final possession of the night, they were given two chances to take the lead, but were unable to find the bottom of the net. After the third offensive rebound,
Alex Huerta came away with a steal, with less than two seconds remaining.
Earl Schexnayder then drilled the game winning half court shot that sent the Red Hawks into oblivion.
Simpson was led by
Josh Brakkee, who finished with 18 points and was the only Red Hawk in double figures.
The Red Hawks look ahead to a rematch with best team in the conference in Benedictine Mesa on the road on January 28th at 6 pm.
